See whether you have installed ATM. Due to an incompatibility
thrown into MacOS 9 a few weeks before shipment, ATM 4.5.1 and
earlier were made incompatible with MacOS 9. Download the update
to ATM 4.5.2 (and equivalent ATR) to fix the problem.
