Subject: TOC entries with bold & non-bold formatting?

Folks,
Can I get a TOC entry that has the $<paratext> with bold formatting and the
tab & page number in plain face?
Can I do this with a <character style title> on the reference page, like
with x-ref formats and variables?
Am I asking too much? I am not interested in fiddling with a TOC every time
I regenerate a book. I might do it if there were no other option to achieve
the look I want, but I am designing templates for people who are not allowed
to "fiddle".
Thanks for any help you can give me.
