Specific Job Description
========================

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Develop, implement, and support strategies and solutions for the
FrameMaker+SGML authoring environment within Sun.  Requires experience
in UNIX, Frame, FrameMaker+SGML, FDK, template development, HTML, PDF, and
providing end-user support.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Work with FrameMaker+SGML users company-wide to understand their business
 needs and develop solutions and applications designed to meet those needs.

-Develop and maintain, using the FDK API clients, HTML, perl, and other
 programming skills, those tools used in the Sun FM+SGML authoring and
 delivery environment.

-Support the FrameMaker+SGML user population in their application of the
 authoring tools; including e-mail, 1:1, phone support, and extensions to
 the application as needed.

-Ensure the FrameMaker+SGML application is current and available
 throughout Sun.

-Work with other interested Sun agencies to productize the
 FrameMaker+SGML authoring environment for reuse in other applications,
 such as potential database and archival tools or programs.

-Develop additional instances of the FrameMaker+SGML environment or
 appropriate process to support the localization function.

-Background in developing/supporting tools in a corporate Technical
 Publishing environments also a plus.


THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE TYPICALLY ACQUIRED THROUGH:

-Typical number of years of relevant experience:  5-7
-Minimum level of education:  BS
-Fields of study:  Computer Science


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
SGML, HTML, PDF, FrameMaker, FrameMaker+SGML, UNIX


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
C, C++, and shell/perl, Java, XML, PDF, FDK
